A clicker game you can play without downloading anything

Star-Spangled Tycoon starts as a clicker game. You tap to earn your first dollars, and every tap adds to a running total. Once you have a few businesses, they earn on their own, so you can close the game and come back later to find more money waiting. The clicking part is quick to learn, and the waiting part is where the strategy comes in. Most of the fun is in deciding what to buy next with the money you have.

You do not need to download anything. The browser version lives on the play page and runs in a normal web browser. On a laptop or desktop you can open it in one tab and keep it in the background. On a phone or tablet it runs the same way. Because nothing is installed, there is nothing to update, and no space is taken up on your device beyond what the browser uses for saves.

The game covers 5 worlds and 50 businesses in total. Each business can be upgraded and assigned a manager, and later worlds add mechanics that change how you play. Every world keeps the same tap-and-wait loop at its core, so you can learn the rhythm early and then enjoy the new ideas as they arrive. The theme is a parody of American politics. You are a candidate, the businesses are things like a flag stand and a fireworks factory, and the goal is an election win.

The browser version is free and supported by ads. Ads show at natural breaks and some rewards are unlocked by a short ad, which is how the free version pays its bills. Save progress lives in the browser on that device, and the settings menu can export a copy. If you want the game on your phone with its own icon, the iPhone and iPad app is free on the App Store, with optional purchases inside it. We do not currently publish an Android app.

A clicker game is a good fit for short breaks, and it is also a good fit for people who like to plan. You do not have to play for hours. Open it, collect what your businesses have earned, make a choice and close it again. If the tap-and-wait loop does not appeal, it will be obvious within a few minutes, and nothing is lost by trying it. Since you install nothing, you can stop at any time and leave nothing behind except the progress saved in your browser.
